The first trailer for Season 2 of the acclaimed Disney+ series X-Men ’97 opens with a sad reminder of a Season 1 death. Then, things go a little nuts, as the X-Men get scattered across time and the looming presence of Apocalypse (the dude, not the Biblical event) threatens to destroy everything. It’s an epic continuation of the series, which functions as a continuation of the ’90s animated show beloved by comic book fans.
According to the official synopsis, courtesy of Disney:
X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.
Season 2 will be nine episodes long, with a voice cast that includes Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 premieres July 1st, 2026 on Disney+, and has already been renewed for a third season. Check out the new trailer below, and if you want to revisit the live-action films while waiting, Amazon has a luxe box set featuring 10 movies from the series (some better than others).
