David Torkanowsky & Amari AnsariDavid Torkanowsky is a renowned jazz pianist, composer, and arranger from New Orleans, born in 1956 to conductor Werner Torkanowsky and flamenco dancer Theresa Torkanowsky. Immersed in music from an early age, he studied under local legends like Ellis Marsalis and James Booker and briefly attended Berklee College of Music. He was a founding member of the acclaimed modern jazz ensemble Astral Project and has worked with artists such as Dianne Reeves, Boney James, and Allen Toussaint.In addition to performing, Torkanowsky has composed for film and television, with credits including NCIS: New Orleans, Trem, and The Big Easy. His recording career spans nearly 200 projects, and he continues to be a central figure in the New Orleans music scene, performing regularly and serving as composer-in-residence at Storyville Studios. His style blends classical technique, flamenco roots, and the rich improvisational language of jazz.Amari Ansari is an Alabama-born saxophonist, composer, and producer whose sound blends gospel roots with soul, Rs at the University of New Orleans and became a longtime member of the Uptown Jazz Orchestra and the Grammy-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Ansari has toured globally, performing with artists like Stevie Wonder, Solange, and The Temptations, and in 2019 released his debut project, Voices EP.
