“A startling, genre-defying record… equal parts menace, beauty, and controlled chaos.”
When Tool released Ænima in 1996, it redefined the possibilities of heavy music - a record that could be suffocating and expansive, brutal and beautiful, all at once. From the jagged urgency of “Stinkfist” to the spiralling introspection of “Forty Six & 2” and the apocalyptic release of “Ænema,” it remains one of the most influential albums of its time.
On September 19, Perth’s own ARIZONA BAYSWATER recreate the album in full with the precision, intensity, and immersive visual atmosphere that have made them one of the most authentic Tool tribute experiences you’ll find anywhere.
But this is more than a single-album show.
Opening the night, SEA OF NAMES perform Mer de Noms in its entirety - the landmark 2000 debut from A Perfect Circle, the other iconic project led by Maynard James Keenan.
“A haunting, beautifully crafted record that proved heaviness could be both brutal and graceful.”
Blending soaring melodies with brooding atmosphere, Mer de Noms introduced a different side of Maynard’s voice — one that carried songs like “Judith,” “3 Libras,” and “The Hollow” to global success, making it one of the most celebrated debut albums of its era.
Performed live, front to back, it provides the perfect counterpoint to Ænima - light and shade, melody and aggression, two sides of the same creative force.
Two era-defining albums.
One singular voice connecting them.
