The Folks Music is a Nigerian band of seven cultured men, celebrated for blending traditional African sounds with contemporary influences. Their music fuses Afrobeat, Highlife, Folk, Jazz, and modern Nigerian genres into a soulful sound that feels both timeless and innovative.
With lyrics and rhythms that explore culture, love, social issues, and personal reflection, The Folks resonate deeply with audiences at home and abroad. They are part of a new wave of Nigerian artists preserving African traditions while embracing global influences.
Though relatively new on the scene, The Folks have already shared stages with African music greats such as Femi Kuti, Made Kuti, Seun Kuti, The Cavemen, and London-based Ezra Collective, among others. They have also toured Europe and the UK as session musicians, building a reputation for their dynamic live performances and authentic artistry.
On March 21st, 2025, The Folks released their debut single “IMA”- a soulful introduction to their sound and a glimpse into their forthcoming body of work. The release marks an exciting new chapter in their journey as recording artists.
The Folks Music continues to be recognized for creating music that bridges generations.
