Alexander Flood

Alexander Flood is one of Australia’s commanding beat-masters, possessing a finessed arsenal of groove, power, and expertise on the drums. His unique sound and approach on the instrument has been crafted through the many years of study, training and dedication to music. Leading his band from the drum chair, Alex’s music pushes a fresh rhythmic and dynamic realm of live dance music leaning on nu-jazz, house, broken beat, DnB, funk and experimental sounds. Flood’s live set delivers hard hitting dance energy from start to finish with tight masterful drums, big bottom bass, lush keyboard harmonies and floating jazz flute melodies. 

Alex has worked with some heavyweight artists including Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah), Elena Pinderhughes, Weedie Braimah, Ábáse, Horatio Luna, Cazeaux OSLO, Vivian Sessoms, Emma Volard and Nelson Dialect to name a few. 2023 saw Flood align with Berlin’s Jakarta Records to release his third album OSCILLATE, forging a new direction in dance music and brining together Australian & European artistry, energy and collaboration.

In 2024, now working with Emerged Agency, Alex took his band on tour across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK to play a hefty run of headline shows and festival spots including London Jazz Festival and Wellington Jazz Festival. 

Flood continues the momentum through 2025, with his bold sounding 4th studio album ARTIFCTUAL RHYTHM released in April via Atjazz Record company.
