We are delighted to welcome LOUIS BRENNAN to Blues in the Bar at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton.
Louis Brennan is a singer-songwriter in the folk/blues tradition. His folk however aren’t the field hands and travelling minstrels of yore but the repressed middle managers and urbanites of late-stage capitalism. They populate tales of bad sex, half-drunk commutes and claustrophobic relationships delivered in Brennan’s cracked baritone, at times intimate, at times spuriously broad, peppered with pitch-black humour.
Brennan has performed at The Ramblin’ Roots Revue, Red Rooster Festival and AmericanaFest UK, and toured Germany and Italy with support from Culture Ireland. His third LP is due in spring 2026.
Praised as ‘a master storyteller with a voice like rolling thunder’ (GQ) and ‘capable of turning the bleak into beautiful and relatable’ (Gigwise), Brennan’s work has drawn favourable comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Guy Clark and Kris Kristofferson.
His debut album Dead Capital (2018) earned 9/10 from Americana UK, while his second record Love Island (2022), recorded at Rockfield Studios and mixed at Abbey Road, was hailed by Lonesome Highway as ‘an essential album for our times’. The title track of which was featured in the BAFTA-winning BBC film Quiet Life.
GREG BRICE
A finalist in the 2023 UK Blues Awards ‘Emerging Act of the Year’ category, GREG BRICE plays acoustic finger picked blues and electric slide guitar. His music connects in the raw and immediate way that only authentic roots music can and in the UK’s Blues and Americana clubs it's the quality of his song writing that captures people's attention. And that voice – clear as a bell, powerful and pure. Greg's influences range from 70's Ry Cooder to the music of New Orleans, particularly artists like Professor Longhair and Dr John.
'Mellow, musical, and thought provoking; a treat for the senses. Greg Brice is a great musician.' - BLUES MATTERS
'An incredible talent as a guitarist and songwriter.' - BLUES IN BRITAIN
'The most exquisite finger-picked acoustic blues that you could wish to hear.' - FATEA'
