Grammy winner Cedric Burnside brings the raw, hypnotic groove of Hill Country Blues to the stage with Hill Country Love, the follow-up to his 2021 Grammy-winning album I Be Trying. Recorded in just two days in a repurposed wooden building in Ripley, Mississippi, the album blends rock, R&B, and hip-hop with deep Mississippi roots. "A little more upfront and direct," Burnside says, Hill Country Love reflects on family, faith, and life's curveballs. "The juke joint was my church, and the juke joint was my school." A recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship and the 2024 Mississippi Governor's Arts Award, Burnside carries on the tradition of his grandfather, blues legend R.L.
