An icon of South African contemporary dance, Vincent Sekwati Koko Mantsoe, brings his deeply moving solo to Toronto; a work inspired by current chaotic social dynamics and the embodiment of ancient rituals that bring a return to balance and connection. His work depicts the disorder and confusion of contemporary human behaviour until he embraces the philosophy of Ubuntu: I am because you are. Everything alive has a connected vital, spiritual power and each being is part of a larger relational, communal, societal, environmental, and spiritual world. Though movement and song, Mantsoe illuminates our connection to the earth, the spiritual realm, and one another with strength and fluidity.
