Yes! You read it right. Magazine’s Dave Formula & Noko play Songs From Under The Floorboards.
In May 2026, Magazine’s keyboard player and guitarist, Dave and Noko, will be touring one more time, performing an evening of Magazine material. Bonus!
Alongside Dave and Noko, will be Peter Petersen (from the French new wave band, Affection Place) on vocals; his son, Tim on the bass guitar; and Dave’s son, Max, on the kit. As Sly Stone would say, ‘It’s a family affair…’
You will hear a full live set taken from the across Magazine’s classic back catalogue. North, south, east and west. Coming to a town near you. Right across the UK.
Dave Formula first met Noko when he was producing ‘Beast Box’, the second album from Howard Devoto’s Luxuria project, on which Noko was the guitarist and co-songwriter.
Prior, Dave was a founding member of Manchester’s answer to The Small Faces, St. Louis Union; pioneering post-punk outfit, Magazine; and electronic super-group, Visage – bringing his trademark multi-layered keyboards to each and every party.
Composing along the way such evergreen songs as, ‘Parade’, ‘Feed The Enemy’, ‘Back To Nature’, A Song From Under The Floorboards’, ‘Mind Of A Toy’, to name but a handful.
Noko, as a teenager in Liverpool, wrote to Virgin Records applauding John McGeoch’s guitar playing in Magazine, requesting they keep his name on file in case a vacancy ever came up. In 2009, Noko was the guitarist in Magazine.
Before that Noko and his combo, Apollo 440, hit the worldwide big time with releases such as ‘Krupa’, ‘Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Dub’, and ‘Stop The Rock’. To date, they have 50 different tracks featured in movies (‘Charlie’s Angels’, ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’, ‘Driven’,’Spiderman’); TV shows (The Sopranos, ITV World Cup, Formula 1 Motor Racing); Sony PlayStation computer games (Gran Turismo 2, 3 & 4, FIFA 2000, Adidas Power Soccer); and advertising commercials for globally branded cars, beers, soft drinks, ‘phones, audio and software. If it moves at speed, you can bet your bottom dollar it’s moving fast to an Apollo 440 beat.
Following a short vintage gear shopping trip to Chicago – where Dave, oddly enough, chanced upon a floorboards restoration company called, ‘Dave & Noko’ – gears turned and plans hatched to tread the ‘boards one more time. The stage is set. Kismet.
