Donald Harrison Jr. is an American jazz saxophonist and the Big Chief of The Congo Square Nation Afro-New Orleans Cultural Group from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Berklee College of Music in 2021. GRAMMY® Nominated & NEA Jazz Master Big Chief DONALD HARRISON is a visionary saxophonist and cultural ambassador, as well as a leading force across multiple musical genres. He has performed with the highest echelon of acoustic jazz masters from the 20s tradition to the present day, while also charting and earning number-one recordings in classic jazz, soul, smooth jazz, and beyond. This performance will highlight DONALD HARRISON's new jam band intitiative that blends post-bop, funk, soul and hip-hop into his signature "nouveau swing" style. This music mixes traditional New Orleans roots with contemproary smooth soulful jazz.
