Songs from the group;s early EPs have been so heavily sampled by raps A-listers (including by Wu0Tang Clan, The Beastie Boys, and MF DOOM) that their sound has become nearly indivisible from Hip-Hop. ESGs Seminal 1983 debut album Come Away with ESG was acknowledged by Pitchfork as one of the 50 best Albums of the 1980s.ESG are indeed the only group to play the opening night of Manchesters legendary Hacienda, and the closing nights of New Yorks legendary Paradise Garage. Originally recorded by Factory Records in the U.K. their first EP was produced by Martin Hanett. In the late 1980s they released the telling Sample Credits Dont Pay Our Bills. ESG have continued to release their own unique music, and have performed both domestically and internationally to share their creative style of music.
