Etuk Ubong is a Nigerian trumpeter, composer, and bandleader known for his unique fusion of Afrobeat, highlife, jazz, and the ritualistic drumming of Ekombi. His music is vibrant, energetic, and spiritually driven, reflecting his heritage and life philosophy of goodwill, peace, and love for humanity. With compositions that are both politically charged and deeply rooted in his cultural background, Ubong’s sound has drawn comparisons to prominent UK artists such as Shabaka Hutchings and Sons of Kemet, yet remains distinctly Nigerian.Etuk has developed his original style, which he calls “Earth Music.” Often fast-paced and thought-provoking, his performances feature his band called Etuk Philosophy.“Bloody hell Etuk Ubong ‘Purpose Of Creation’ is fantastic, where does that dirtycrunchy sound come from” Gilles Peterson, BBC 6 MusicEtuk’s live performances have taken him to prestigious venues and festivals across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
