Hello darling hearts,
So how wild - this month, it has officially been 10 years since I released my song ‘Drive’, and what an adventure we have been on ever since. This song changed my life and gave me a career in music, and so it only felt right to throw a party and play a celebratory show for you at one of my favourite Sydney venues, Oxford Art Factory. I have headlined this venue twice before - once on the Here and Now EP tour in 2018, and again on the Begin To Look Around tour in 2022. It is a room that holds such special memories for me, and I am so looking forward to returning.
More than anything, this fans first show is a thank you for your endless kindness, patience, and support of my music over this last decade. I’ve been away for a couple of years now, putting my health first and working on a new record. After the recent release of my song ‘Swimming, Crying’, I couldn’t be happier to be back playing shows again. I’m going to be playing songs from all of the bodies of work I have released since the ‘Drive’ days - my earthy EPs Elsewhere & Here and Now, and my shiny pop albums Begin To Look Around & Positive Spin. I’m also going to be playing some unreleased music for you… so it’ll be an eclectic set! I hope you’re excited.
The way that Australia championed ‘Drive’ when I was only 18 and studying for my high school exams, gave me a place in this world and endless opportunities to tour my music across the country, and in other parts of the world too. I cannot wait to thank you all in person on August 26th, before we move onto the next chapter. I’ll see you there.
Love,
-G x
