Dominica Independence Day Celebration in association with the Dominica High Commission in London
Dominica’s Princess of Song, Michele Henderson, returns to the Soul Mama stage to celebrate Dominica’s 47th year of Independence in style! The month of October is “Creole Month” in Dominica, with celebrations spanning the entire month leading up to Independence Day on November 3rd. Dominicans living in the UK likewise celebrate every year with various activities highlighting Dominica’s incredible Creole culture! Music, food, traditional fashion and more are on full display with throngs of people indulging in the festivity. Two full concerts, by Dominican icon Michele Henderson on the 31st of October and 1st of November, will be the highlight of this year’s celebrations in the UK! Michele Henderson is a singer and songwriter from the island of Dominica. Having graced international stages like Roskilde Festival in Denmark, the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, the Imatra Big Band Festival in Finland, Antilliaanse Feesten in Belgium and many more, Michele is a seasoned performer whose extraordinary talent is unquestionable.
Her award winning discography includes 6 albums, several singles and one DVD. In addition to her role as a cultural ambassador to her island, she holds the official designation of Goodwill Ambassador to Dominica. She is also the author and composer of the official anthem of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
