Dutch/New Zealand visionary trio MY BABY are set to return to Aotearoa for a packed seven-show tour across the country, celebrating their most recent album Echo.
Released in July last year, Echo stands as one of MY BABY’s most ambitious recordings - a concept driven journey that explores Echoes, in both literal and symbolic ways, drawing from ancient myths, feminine archetypes and the endless reverberations of time. The band takes inspiration from goddesses, sirens, prophets, and warriors, peeling back the layers of history to reclaim and rewrite their stories. Sonically it evolves on their signature bluesy, roots-driven delta trance and delves deeper into hypnotics; more pulsating rhythms, swirling guitars and ethereal vocals. In true MY BABY style, it’s an album that you want to see live.
MY BABY has earned the reputation of being a must-see live act all around the world. Formed by New Zealander Daniel “Da Freez” Johnston alongside Dutch siblings Cato and Joost van Dijck, they have made regular returns to NZ, fostering a devoted following.
They were last in Aotearoa early last year on a 12-date tour, where they finished with an additional last-minute set at WOMAD. Since then, they have taken on Europe’s summer 2025 festivals, notably performing at Glastonbury and supporting Alanis Morissette on her world tour stop in Amsterdam.
The Echo tour promises to bring this album to life in a way only MY BABY can. It will start at Loons in Christchurch on Thursday 12 March and move up to Nelson for back to back shows at The Playhouse on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March. They will then play San Fran in Wellington on Wednesday 18 March, Butlers Reef in New Plymouth on Thursday 19 March, Totara Street in Mount Maunganui on Friday 20 March and finish up at The Yard, Raglan on Saturday 21 March.
