Natalie Duncan
An incandescent star is born. — The Guardian
Singer/songwriter Duncan produces music that has been described as genuine, heartfelt and resonating with a voice whose honeyed, silky caresses are to die for.
Nottingham-raised singer/songwriter/keys player Natalie Duncan's excellent piano playing, and expressive, lyrical voice first came to the attention of those in the know in 2009, at the age of 18, with the release of her debut EP "Natalie Alexis Duncan". However, it was in 2011 and her involvement in the BBC programme "Goldie's Band By Royal Appointment", the three-part series that was the brainchild of drum and bass pioneer Goldie, that she came to wider attention.
Following her appearances on the show, she was signed to Decca Records and produced her first album "Devil in Me" which was released in 2012 to considerable acclaim with the Guardian declaring, "An incandescent star is born". Towards the end of that same year, she appeared on "Later with Jools Holland" which led to her touring Japan and supporting for the band Muse.
Natalie released her second album "Free" in the summer of 2020 on Goldie’s Fallen Tree 1Hundred label – the album that launched the label.
She received excellent critical acclaim from publications including Mojo and Blues and Soul. Echoes and Bandcamp made ‘Free’ their album of the month and Jazz FM awarded record of the week. Duncan launched the album with a live, intimate recording from Ronnie Scott's and followed that up with a seminal show at London's Jazz Café.
Back in 2019 and in the spring of 2022, Natalie teamed up with Goldie once more as a vocalist and writer on his and James Davidson’s Subjective project.
She released 5 singles through 2022, one of which ‘Hearts in a cage’ was remixed by 4hero and widely playlisted.
Natalie has performed 3 headline shows at Ronnie Scott’s, in 2021 and 2022 and 2025 all of which sold out.
2023 saw Natalie step up and join legendary Jazz-funk band Incognito as a lead vocalist alongside the likes of Tony
Momrelle, Joy Rose, Vanessa Haynes, Imaani and Cherri V, touring most of Europe and the Far East. She is also a co-writer on 5 tracks from Incognito’s latest album ‘Into You’ and features as a keys player on 2 of them.
She is currently working in the studio as a co-writer for Goldie and Incognito’s upcoming albums.
Other artist writing credits/performing collaborations include
Mica Paris and Richard Spaven, Guy Chambers, Kat Eaton, Liam Howe (Sneaker Pimps), Disclosure, Skream and Benga, Bansangu Orchestra
Natalie is currently writing her 3rd album, which will be released independently in 2025.
