His breakthrough track “There’s Nothing Like This” became a British soul landmark, admired by artists from Erykah Badu to Common, and he’s worked alongside legends such as Leon Ware, Lamont Dozier and Stevie himself. Awarded an MBE for services to music, Omar’s voice glides from velvet lows to a falsetto fine as silk, earning him praise as “the original nu-classic soul guvnor”, in the words of Trevor Nelson.
