Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, Omar Perry is the son of the legendary producer and song writer that shook the world by giving birth to Reggae Dub and produced some of the biggest reggae household names: Lee “Scratch” Perry!
Growing up in such a musical environment with some of the greatest reggae artists that worked in his father’s studio, Omar knew one day he would have to take his place on the Reggae Music chariot. He has since toured with Horace Andy, Jah Mason, Kiddus I, and his father Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, and shared the stage with countless international artists including Sly & Robbie + Mykal Rose, Buju Banton, Alton Ellis, The Abyssinians, Kymani Marley, Max Romeo and Alborosie.
Omar did not rely on his father’s fame and preferred to make his own way. Over the years he emerged as an artist of the future: his ability to captivate and energize the massive is breath taking.
He has released 7 studio albums between 2007 and 2022: ‘Man Free’, ‘Can’t Stop Us’, ‘The Journey’, ‘Be Cool’, ‘New Dawn’, ‘Living in the Jungle’, and ‘Life’.
After connecting with ERM over their leader, Olivier Gangloff’s friendship with the late, great Lee Perry, Omar and ERM were bound together by their desire to preserve the spirit, legacy and persona of one of the greatest reggae legends ever.
The album entitled Channeling Lee “Scratch” Perry is a tribute where Omar keeps his identity but still explores the mind and soul barrier to re-create the embodiment of his Father LSP.
