FITZGERALDS NIGHTCLUB PRESENTS:Pinebender w/ Allen Epley & Tractor Kings ft. Matt Talbot (HUM)$20 General Admission / Reserved Tabls Available Pinebender is an alternative rock trio formed in the Chicago suburbs in 1997. The original lineupMatt Clark (low guitar), Chris Hansen (guitar and vocals), and Stephen Howard (drums)forged a sound built on slow, heavy, and melodic structures, balancing restraint with sudden, crushing dynamics. Their music occupies the space between indie rock, slowcore, and post-rock, emphasizing tension, texture, and emotional weight over conventional song forms. After beginning as a bedroom project in Wilmette, Pinebender moved into Chicago rehearsal spaces and recorded early material at Electrical Audio. Their debut full-length album, Things Are About to Get Weird, was released in 2000 on Ohio Gold Records and produced by Steve Albini, followed later that year by the Too Good to Be True EP. These releases established the band as a distinct presence in the Chicago underground, known for patience, volume, and an uncompromising approach.Following lineup changes in the early 2000s, Pinebender continued as a reconfigured band, releasing Working Nine to Wolf in 2006 on Lovitt Records. In recent years, however, the original lineup has reunited and returned to playing together, reconnecting with the sound and chemistry that defined the bands earliest work.Today, Pinebender stands as both a document of a specific time and place and a living band, continuing to explore slow, deliberate, and heavy music with the same intent and intensity that marked their beginnings. Tractor Kings Composed by singer/guitarist/songwriter Jake Fleishli, Tractor Kings psychedelic/alt-country discography reaches back 25 years with Sunday Night, released in 2001 on downstate Illinois Mud Records. More records followed in 2003 (Gone to Heaven, Mud), 2008 (Homesick, Spur Records), 2016 (Code, Spur), and 2020 (Virgos Fall, TKB Records). Based out of Champaign, IL, the current line-up includes Jakes long-term collaborator and producer/engineer Matt Talbott (Hum) on guitar, Joel Spencer (Menthol) on bass, Clayton Burke on pedal steel, and Joe Funderburk on drums.
