THE KOOKS RETURN TO THE SEASIDE AFTER PERFORMING AT THE VERY FIRST THE GREAT ESCAPE FESTIVAL IN 2006 PRESENTED BY NME

Formed in Brighton in the mid 2000s, The Kooks were among the breakthrough acts to perform at the very first edition of The Great Escape in 2006, the same year they released their now multi-platinum debut album Inside In/Inside Out, also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The record, featuring era defining hits including ‘Naïve’, ‘She Moves in Her Own Way’, and the aptly titled ‘Seaside’, helped establish the band as one of the leading lights of the UK’s indie resurgence.

Returning to the seaside where it all began, this special Spotlight Show, presented in partnership with NME, celebrates 20 years of The Great Escape and the enduring legacy of an album that soundtracked a generation, bringing one of the festival’s earliest success stories back to Brighton for a landmark anniversary performance.

TGE BEACH - THE DEEP END - ABOUT THE VENUE

Set right on Brighton Beach along Madeira Drive, this special 1,000-capacity pop-up venue is one of the most unique spaces at The Great Escape. Built as part of the festival’s official Beach Site, it brings live music right to the shoreline, with the sea just metres away and the city’s energy all around you.

Despite its festival setting, the space is intentionally intimate, designed to get you closer to the artist. It’s a rare chance to experience a major act like The Kooks in a stripped-back, up-close environment, with the atmosphere of a one-off moment you won’t find anywhere else.

Expect a truly special show: big artists, small room energy, and a setting that captures everything The Great Escape is about; discovery, connection and unforgettable live music by the sea.
Previous artist who have played at this unique venue include Idles, Peter Doherty, The Horrors, English Teacher, Amyl and The Sniffers and many more.
