The March Violets are an iconic English post-punk and gothic rock band formed in Leeds in 1981, known for their atmospheric drum machine rhythms, echo-laden guitars and dual male/female vocals that helped define the early UK goth scene. Seven of their singles charted on the UK Indie Chart, and their early releases — including classics like Snake Dance and Walk Into The Sun — are revered staples of the genre. After early success, lineup changes and hiatuses, The March Violets reformed and continue to perform and record, carrying forward over four decades of darkly compelling music with original members Rosie Garland and Tom Ashton at the helm.
