Celebriting the year of Horse, with Yangtze River Suite preimiereJazzical, Ye Huang jazz band with stringsA dialogue of music and water spanning the Pacific Ocean is about to unfold in the legendary jazz sanctuary.A heartfelt reflection on the Mother River of the Chinese nation, and a bold experiment in the deep fusion of Eastern and Western musical languages.Jazz performer and composer Ye Huang is set to premiere the Yangtze River Suite. It is officially scheduled for its world premiere on February 15, 2026, at the renowned Birdland Jazz Club in New York.In this unique sonic space, Huang Ye constructs a brand-new musical time and space. He attempts to navigate the treacherous rapids of the Three Gorges with Swing jazz, to deconstruct the bold spiciness of Sichuan and Chongqing with the intricate rhythms of Latin jazz, to depict the vast remoteness of the snowy highlands with the austere coolness of Cool Jazz, and to showcase the inclusiveness of the rivers mouth with the blending of Fusion jazz, together with is Jazzical fusion band (jazz quartet mix with string quartet). The Yangtze River Suite is an auditory Picture Scroll of the Ten Thousand Miles of the Yangtze River. Ye has carefully selected the most representative melodies from the vast treasury of folk songs along the Yangtze River basin as the core motifs, reconstructing them with modern harmony to infuse these familiar tunes with unprecedented vitality.Program:Qinghai: At the place far awayTibet: Tibet PlateauSichuan: Kangding Love SongYunnan: Flowing streamsChongqing: Rise of joyHubei: Dragon Boat hymnHunan: Liuyang RiverJiangxi: AzaleaAnhui: Flower DrumsJiangsu: Jasmine FlowerShanghai: Sound of Shanghai
