Fictional talk show host Ali G is returning to theaters for his second big-screen adventure, as Sacha Baron Cohen has revived his first major persona for Ali G: Who Iz I?
In the newly released trailer, Cohen’s Ali G points out how much the world has changed: “There’s been Wars. COVID. And Ed Sheeran. I’m going to get back on top with a brand new thing called a ‘documentary.’”
We are also introduced to Ali G’s pregnant girlfriend (played by British comedian Morgana Robinson) as he takes random classes and goes on various TV shows. “It got the very latest firearms technology, action, drama, heartbreak, plot twists and the very latest TikTok trends,” he adds.
“After twenty years spent ‘chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’,’ Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie, is 8 months pregnant,” reads the official logline. “Faced with an extra mouth to feed, he gets off his batty and heads to America to reclaim his former glory… but soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence.”
The new movie, also written and directed by Cohen, was filmed in secret over the last year, and will likely see the British comedian messing with real-life folk as well as celebrities in character.
Ali G: Who Iz I? is Cohen’s feature directorial debut, after working with directors Larry Charles and Jason Woliner on the Borat movies. The movie premieres October 23rd. In the meantime, and explore Cohen’s previous movies on Blu-ray via Amazon.
