Angela Gossow Shoots Down Speculation That She Rejoined Arch Enemy: “It’s Not Me”

A recent social media post suggested that Arch Enemy may be reuniting with their classic-era singer Angela Gossow, but the vocalist insists that it’s not her.

Back in November, Alissa White-Gluz announced her departure from the Swedish metal band, stating, “After 12 years in Arch Enemy, we have parted ways. I am forever thankful to the thousands of amazing fans I have met along the way. Thank you, Beastlings! I can’t wait to share what I have been working on with you all.” She promptly released a new solo single that same day.

White-Gluz had replaced Gossow in 2014 after the latter decided to step away from the band. However, Gossow stayed on as Arch Enemy’s business manager.

The social media tease (see below), posted on the Instagram accounts of both Arch Enemy and Gossow, shows a cryptic video of a mysterious figure holding up a torch, with the words “2026.” Everything else had been wiped off each of their accounts.

However, Gossow took to the comments section a couple days later to remark, “It’s not ME! But thank you for all the love! I am really excited to be involved in this new chapter as the manager. This is gonna crush!”

Gossow joined Arch Enemy in 2000, replacing original singer Johan Liiva, and stayed on until her aforementioned 2014 departure. She appeared on five albums between 2001 and 2011, including acclaimed releases like Wages of Sin and Doomsday Machine.

After she left Arch Enemy, she became their business manager, which might have contributed to the confusion over the social media tease. As it turns out, she was just promoting a new era of the band.

Editor’s Note: This article was updated on February 16th with Angela Gossow’s comments denying she has returned to the band.
