The current version of Black Flag, featuring founding guitarist Greg Ginn alongside a Gen Z lineup of musicians, will be without their singer Max Zanelly for their upcoming US tour. In her place, vocalist London Downey has been tapped to front the band for the outing.
Zanelly is currently dealing with work visa issues that are preventing her from touring. Ginn posted a statement on Black Flag’s social media accounts announcing the temporary singer change:
“Important notice: Our singer Max Zanelly has hit an issue regarding her work visa. Max is working on resolving the issue, but will not be able to sing on the upcoming tour. For the tour, our friend London Downey has stepped in on vocals. We are grateful for London’s willingness to participate on such short notice. He will do an amazing job. Max is looking forward to seeing everyone soon!”
The hardcore punk band’s 45-date tour kicks off this Thursday, September 3rd, in Aspen, Colorado, and runs through a November 1st show in Houston. Tickets are available here.
The 72-year-old Ginn relaunched Black Flag in 2025 with a revamped lineup featuring himself and three musicians in their early twenties, including Zanelly, bassist David Rodriguez, and drummer Bryce Weston. He later revealed that he chose Zanelly to be the singer after seeing her in the crowd screaming along to every word at a Black Flag show months earlier.
