Blonde Redhead have unveiled a new song, “Blood Spilled,” their first new music in three years. Stream it below.
The single by the trio of Kazu Makino and twin brothers Simon and Amedeo Pace is out on section1 records. The track layers bright and fuzzed-out guitars with resonant bass and airy, dreamscape keys over driving drums to create an atmosphere for Makino’s haunting vocals. The lyrics contemplate love and death in a song that forgoes a traditional arrangement, replacing it with a propulsive build toward an end point.

“This song embraces our incredible edge over those who no longer have bodies,” Makino said in a statement. “While we are here on this earth, this is our time, our pain and our joy. I sing and scream just to hear myself do so until my soul abandons and exits the physical plane.”
Blonde Redhead hits Mexico and South America in October before doing a trio of tour dates in California. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
The band’s latest studio album album was 2023’s Sit Down for Dinner.
