Bob Dylan kicked off his 2026 summer tour in Troutdale, Oregon, on Thursday, June 4th, playing a 16-song set that was light on hits and heavy on deep cuts and covers.
Playing at McMenamins Edgefield Amphitheater, Dylan began with 1969’s “To Be Alone With You” and then played his first cover of the night, his take on Bo Diddley’s “I Can Tell.” From there, he played songs from throughout his expansive catalog, including “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” “Under the Red Sky,” and “Man in the Long Black Coat.”
Most notable among the deep cuts was the live debut of “Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby.” As Rolling Stone points out, Dylan originally recorded the song in 1967 with The Band during The Basement Tapes sessions, but it wasn’t officially released until 2014, when the track appeared on The Bootleg Series Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes Complete. Though Dylan didn’t completely refrain from performing his hits (“All Along the Watchtower” and “Rainy Day Women’s #12 & 35”), this show was a textbook example of Paul McCartney’s recent complaint about Dylan not leaning into his classics. See the full setlist below.
“I’ve been to see a couple of shows of Bob’s, and I couldn’t tell what song he was doing,” McCartney said on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast. “Now that’s a bit much, because I know his stuff. I get it if he doesn’t want to do ‘Mr. Tambourine Man.’ Maybe he’s fed up with that, but I would like to hear it.”
Dylan’s tour continues tomorrow night, June 6th, in Woodinville, Washington. The trek includes stops in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Queens, New York, before wrapping up on August 1st in Nashville. Look for deals and sold-out tickets here.
