A police report obtained by Us Weekly has divulged more details about Britney Spears’ March 2026 DUI arrest, including that that the 44-year-old singer allegedly told an officer that, “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I’m an angel.”

Spears was pulled over after a fellow driver reported her “traveling at high speeds and swerving” and an officer subsequently observed her illegally crossing into another lane on multiple occasions. After conducting the traffic stop, the officer detected a “distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage” from inside the vehicle. She was also observed with “red and watery” eyes.

Upon searching the vehicle, an officer reportedly discovered an empty wine glass in the cup holder between the front driver seat and passenger seat. A bottle of pills labeled “Adderall,” which were not prescribed to Spears, were also found in her purse.

Spears admitted to having one champagne mimosa seven hours earlier and said she had taken multiple prescription drugs that day, including 200mg of anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer Lamictal, 40mg of antidepressant Prozac, and 2.5 mg of ADHD medication Adderall.

Per the report, Spears initially refused to exit her vehicle to perform a field sobriety test, saying “she had been pranked and harassed in the past and did not want to exit” and “had the right as a woman not to exit her vehicle.” At one point during her exchange with the officer, Spears allegedly spoke in a British accent and her mood changed from “confrontational and agitated to flamboyant.”

Initial attempts to conduct a field sobriety test, both at the scene and later at a local hospital, apparently proved unsuccessful, with Spears reportedly becoming “argumentative and belligerent.” She was ultimately placed in handcuffs.

She nonetheless passed two chemical breath tests and her blood alcohol level registered at .05 and .06, or under the legal limit.

Spears was initially charged with a DUI, but agreed to reduce the misdemeanor DUI charge in favor of a lesser reckless driving charge after voluntarily entering rehab. As part of the deal, she will serve 12 months probation, complete a three-month substance abuse program, and pay a fine of $571. She was also sentenced to one day in jail and received credit for time served.

In a statement following her arrest, a representative for Spears said “hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in [her] life.”

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” the representative added. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
