Daveigh Chase, whose career as a child actress included roles in Lilo & Stitch, The Ring, and Donnie Darko, has died at the age of 35, TMZ reports. The cause of death, according to her boyfriend Roy Hernandez, was meningitis and a blood infection, leading to septic issues.
Chase’s career began when she was around the age of 8, with small film roles and guest-starring appearances on shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and ER. In 2001, she played the young sister of titular character Donnie Darko, one of the members of dance troupe Sparkle Motion, and in 2002 she was the voice of young Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, a character she’d reprise for multiple spinoff projects including Lilo & Stitch: The Series, which ran for 67 episodes.
2002 also saw her take on the terrifying role of Samara in the English-language remake of The Ring, and in 2009 she once again played Samantha Darko in the spinoff movie S. Darko. She also appeared in four seasons of the HBO dramedy Big Love as Rhonda, the teenage bride of a polygamist cult leader.
