Ed O’Brien Unveils the Expansive and Beguiling “Incantations”: Stream

Ed O’Brien of Radiohead has debuted a new song, “Incantations,” the second single off his new album, Blue Morpho.

Following the “majestic and harmonious” title track, “Incantations” is described as “eight minutes of hypnotic psych-folk,” per a press release. The centerpiece of all that wondrous noise, however, is O’Brien’s massively affective vocals, which “rustle like leaves in the Welsh countryside over a latticework of radiant guitars.” (Said guitar comes courtesy of Austrian singer-songwriter and “album musical director” Dave Okumu.) Stream the song below.

Blue Morpho is set for release on May 22nd via Transgressive; pre-orders are ongoing.

If you haven’t already, check out O’Brien’s recent interview with Kyle Meredith, where he talks Blue Morpho, Radiohead’s early days, and much more.

O’Brien also recently announced “An Evening With…Blue Morpho.” The seven-date, European-exclusive tour features most of the musicians who appear on Blue Morpho. Still, rather than recreate the LP outright, each show sees the collective embark on a “fluid and immersive celebration of the music,” where they’ve drawn “inspiration from the expansive, exploratory spirit of artists such as Sly and the Family Stone, Miles Davis, and Phish.” Tickets are available here. This outing, of course, comes after O’Brien recently wrapped up a reunion tour with Radiohead, with more dates potentially to come in 2027.
