Fontaines D.C. performed at the last-ever Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 6, giving their new song “Marianne” its debut.
The band offered a faithful, loaded rendition of the new track for their session, channeling the song’s darker energy even through its anthemic, yearning chorus. The chiming synths in the verses are particularly highlighted in a live setting, sounding like a set of pitched-up vibraphones being played at the bottom of a thousand-feet-deep cavern. The session was recorded on July 31st, making the performance of “Marianne” a live debut. Watch their rendition below.

Fontaines D.C. also offered “Roy’s Tune” during their Maida Vale session, a song from their 2019 debut Dogrel. Plus, they ran through their recent track “It’s Amazing to Be Young.” Watch both performances below as well.
The legendary Maida Vale studios in London first opened in 1934 and have hosted countless iconic BBC performances over the decades, including sessions by The Beatles, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, and PJ Harvey — many of them for John Peel’s influential Radio 1 program.
Fontaines D.C. will reveal their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, on October 16th.
