Max Dawson got a chance to show off his drum chops for his girlfriend’s dad… and 60,000 other people over the weekend. Dawson is the boyfriend of Dave Grohl’s daughter, Harper, and for his 18th birthday, Foo Fighters invited him onstage during their concert at Anfield in Liverpool, England.
Before Max could take the kit, though, he first had to solve a Rubik’s Cube as the entire stadium looked on. He managed to get through it in about a minute, then joined the rest of Foo Fighters for a performance of “Rope.”
Afterward, Grohl called Max “the best fucking dude in the world” and led the crowd in singing happy birthday to him.
The North American leg of Foo Fighters’ summer tour kicks off in August and features support from Queens of the Stone Age and Mannequin Pussy. Look for last-minute tickets here.
