Toho Studios has announced the title of its sequel to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. As revealed at the annual Godzilla Fest in Tokyo, the film will be called Godzilla -0.0 (or Godzilla Minus Zero).
Yamazaki Takashi has been confirmed to be returning from Godzilla Minus One as writer, director, and visual effects supervisor. Shirogumi’s Chōfu studio will once again handle VFX shots, with production by Toho Studios and Robot. Godzilla Minus Zero was reported to be in production this past July, after Toho greenlit the movie one year earlier. It’s said to be targeting a late 2026 theatrical release.
Its 2023 predecessor, Godzilla Minus One, was a massive critical and commercial success. It became the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film in its home country, and earned $56 million in North America, making it the highest-grossing Japanese-language live-action film ever in the region. The film’s achievements were capped off with an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, the first-ever nomination and win for the franchise. Grab your copy here.
