Jelly Roll hit out at Donald Trump on Monday, August 24th, while opening his guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Citing concerns about the US president’s weight, the country artist said he lost 300 pounds over the last few years and encouraged Trump to follow his lead. “You’ll be happy to see your penis again,” he joked.
“According to The Washington Post, a lot of doctors are worried about the president’s weight. After his last physical, we found out Trump gained 14 pounds, which means he’s now tipping the scales at almost 240,” Jelly Roll said during his opening monologue. “It’s crazy! Think about this, y’all: in the last few years, I’ve lost 300 pounds. That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump! And let’s be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing.”
The musician then dryly suggested we shouldn’t poke fun at Trump for his weight before running a montage of Trump mocking other people’s appearances. “Well, Mr. President, from one fat pig to another: take it from me that physical fitness is very important,” he said, concluding the segment. “And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your penis again.”
Jelly Roll’s anti-Trump comments caught many Kimmel viewers off guard, as the prevailing assumption was that the singer was at least “MAGA-adjacent.”
Earlier this year, photos resurfaced of Jelly Roll at a November 2024 UFC event where he was spotted smiling and shaking hands with Trump. At the same event, he took photos with several former and current MAGA figures, including Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, and former DOGE head Vivek Ramaswamy.
He was also tapped as a headliner for this year’s Rock the Country Festival alongside high-profile Trump supporters like Kid Rock and Jason Aldean. In 2024, however, Jelly Roll insisted he was “neither Democrat nor Republican” while testifying before Congress about the fentanyl crisis.
