It remains to be seen what Stephen Colbert’s next chapter will look like after The Late Show, but Jimmy Kimmel says he will always have an open invitation to return to late night to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live! if ever he’s interested.
With Kimmel currently on his annual summer break from the show, a lineup of guest hosts — everyone from Rosie O’Donnell to Colman Domingo to Jelly Roll — are filling in. Asked by Variety whether Colbert had also been invited to guest host, Kimmel replied, “Of course, I asked him, and I think it feels premature.”
“But I told him, ‘anytime you want to host, it doesn’t matter if it’s the summer, I’ll gladly step aside,” Kimmel added.
