Lana Del Rey Releases James Bond Song “First Light”: Stream

Her name is Del Rey. Lana Del Rey. Without any advanced notice, Lana Del Rey has released a new song called “First Light,” which serves as the theme to the new James Bond video game 007 First Light. Stream it below.

“First Light” begins with a dramatic piano and floating strings, before guitar riffs and percussion add to the bombast. With the game centering on the origin story of Bond, the lyrics focus on the potential consequences of the young spy embracing his fate.

“Your strength is your youth,” Del Rey sings on the first verse. “Promise you’ll never change.” She continues, “People try and stop you, all the fates just watch you/ Dying just to know whether you’ll play your life like a game.”

Del Rey wrote and composed “First Light” with David Arnold, who worked on Bond films such as Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace.

“The Bond theme is a unique storytelling moment; it has to capture scale, drama, and intrigue all at once. Having been part of that musical lineage, I understand how important it is to honor its heritage while allowing it to evolve,” Arnold said in a statement. “Lana brought an elegance and atmosphere to the song that felt perfectly suited to continuing that tradition while introducing something fresh for a new era.”

The release of “First Light” comes as fans still eagerly await Del Rey’s long-gestating new album, Stove. Back in February, she shared the latest single, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter.”

007 First Light is set for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows on May 27th. Pre-orders are ongoing.
