It was a bit of a disappointment to learn that after a week of filming, Helena Bonham Carter had exited The White Lotus Season 4 over creative issues. However, her replacement has been revealed, and she’s equally iconic. Deadline reports that Laura Dern will be joining the cast in her place, reuniting the acclaimed Oscar winner with White Lotus creator Mike White.
According to Deadline, Dern will not be playing the same character Carter was cast as, but a new character being developed specifically for her. Dern and White previously worked together on another HBO series, the cult favorite Enlightened, and Dern also starred in White’s 2007 film Year of the Dog. She also had an uncredited voice cameo in the second season of the show, yelling at Michael Imperioli over the phone.
