Maluma has announced “AGUA,” a new collaboration with Shakira set for release on September 17.
The Colombian singer revealed Shakira as his collaborator on Wednesday by sharing a photo of the pair together on Instagram alongside the song’s title and release date. “Nos fuimos Mundialllll 🌎,” Maluma added in the caption, though he offered no further explanation for the message.
The reveal comes after Maluma shared a couple of TikTok videos teasing “AGUA” without disclosing who would join him on the track. In the clips, he danced to snippets of the song, previewing its merengue-style sound ahead of Wednesday’s announcement.
“AGUA” marks another collaboration between Maluma and Shakira, whose history together dates back a decade. Maluma featured on Shakira’s 2016 single “Chantaje,” and the two teamed up again for “Trap,” which appeared on her 2017 album El Dorado. They followed those songs with another collaboration, “Clandestino,” in 2018.
