After three seasons on Disney+, it’s time for Baby Yoda’s big screen moment. The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first new Star Wars movie in theaters since 2019’s Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, and the new trailer reveals Pedro Pascal returning as the helmeted guardian of his smol Force-adept companion.
Season 3 of The Mandalorian wrapped up with Din Djarin (Pascal) enjoying the quiet life with Grogu; in the new film, he’ll find himself working for the New Republic in the uncertain years following the events of Return of the Jedi. The trailer suggests one Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver) has tapped Din to hunt down a select group of bad guys — including The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White as, no joke, Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta — in hopes of “preventing another war.” Unsurprisingly, this puts him and his little green ward in the crosshairs of some dangerous characters, with the trailer revealing fan-favorite The Clone Wars bounty hunter Embo will be a primary antagonist.
Not to worry, though, because Din and Grogu have some Clone Wars-era backup, as well, with Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios (voiced by Steve Blum), appearing as well.
Jon Favreau, who also created The Mandalorian, directs the movie, from a script written by him and new LucasFilm president Dave Filoni.
The Mandalorian and Grogu premieres May 22nd, 2026. Check out the new trailer below, and catch up on The Mandalorian by signing up for Disney+.
