Mexican disco-funk band Midnight Generation have shared the video for their new single “Almost My Own,” pairing their Daft Punk-influenced sound with a retro take on domestic life.
The clip opens with the Chihuahua-born five-piece performing everyday chores and activities, including ironing, reading the newspaper on the lawn, and hanging socks on a clothesline. The domestic scenes eventually give way to an outdoor performance by a lake.

Musically, “Almost My Own” combines talkbox and synthesizers with the funk, disco, and electronic influences that have shaped the band’s sound since their breakthrough in 2025. The lyrics deal with a relationship that came close to becoming something more but never materialized.
“‘Almost My Own’ is about that ‘almost something’ that could have been but never was, a love story that never came to be,” singer and producer Fernando Mares said in a statement, adding that the talkbox and synthesizers were intended to create a feeling that was both “nostalgic yet futuristic.”
The video arrives as Midnight Generation continue their North American run supporting Empire of the Sun and Polo & Pan. The tour kicked off earlier this week at Red Rocks and includes stops at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
