After A Minecraft Movie crushed it at the box office this spring, Warner Bros. has officially greenlit a sequel. Minecraft 2 is currently in development and is set for release in theaters on July 23rd, 2027. This date happens to coincide with another sequel, The Simpsons 2.
Jared Hess is returning as director, working off a screenplay he co-wrote with fellow Minecraft Movie scribe Chris Galletta.
