My Chemical Romance haven’t released an album in 16 years, and frontman Gerard Way addressed the absence of new MCR music — beyond a 2022 one-off single “The Foundations of Decay” — during their show at San Antonio’s Alamodome on Saturday, September 12th.
“We should probably make more songs,” Way told the crowd. “‘[The Foundations of] Decay’ was really awesome; let’s keep doing it. Stuff happens, life happens, but just know that we kind of really always wanted to make another record. Time will tell if the follow-up to 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys will arrive; in the meantime, My Chemical Romance are still intent on celebrating the past. Last week, they announced a 20th anniversary reissue of their classic 2006 album The Black Parade including live recordings and fan-favorite B-sides.
