Neil Young and his band the Chrome Hearts have announced a new live album, as time explodes, out on May 29th.
The new live album was recorded throughout Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts’ 2025 “The Love Earth Tour.” The 13-track project features a live rendition of one song from Young and the band’s recent LP Talkin to the Trees, “Silver Eagle”; the rest of the tracklist is comprised of songs from across Young’s catalogue, including “Harvest Moon,” “Ohio,” “Vampire Blues,” “After the Gold Rush,” “Cortez the Killer,” and more. The album also features a live version of the new song “Big Crime.”
The album was produced by Lou Adler with The Volume Dealers. Young originally offered as time explodes as a 2026 Record Store Day release, packaged as a limited edition clear double vinyl set. Now, traditional black vinyl, CD, and digital editions will arrive on May 29th. Pre-orders are ongoing; as time explodes will be available via The Greedy Hand, the Neil Young Archives Official Store as well as Neil Young Archives (NYA), music retailers, and most DSPs.
Meanwhile, Neil Young recently teased a new Chrome Hearts studio album, Second Song, in a Neil Young Archives post titled “Moon To Moon,” writing that recording the LP at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La in Malibu “was a lifetime experience” and that it will include five new songs alongside three unreleased tracks he wrote in 1963. He had previously teased the new project last month, describing the album’s themes as being fueled by the “feeling of life and love” and his contempt for “the worst president in the history of our country.”
