In the first teaser for the new movie Primetime, we see footage captured by hidden cameras that hint at no shortage of wrongdoing — wrongdoing that journalist Chris Hanson (Robert Pattinson) is trying to uncover. Inspired by the series To Catch a Predator, the upcoming A24 film also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers.
Lance Oppenheim, known for documentaries including Ren Faire and Spermworld, takes on a narrative project for the first time with Primetime, though the official synopsis, courtesy of A24, confirms that the movie has its roots in true events: “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.”
Primetime marks the film acting debut of Bridgers (beyond her cameo in 2024’s I Saw the TV Glow). It’s also just the latest project coming from Pattinson this year, as he just starred in A24’s The Drama and also plays notable roles in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey this summer and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three in December.
