Booyakasha! Sacha Baron Cohen is officially resurrecting his satirical London rude boy character Ali G for a movie titled Ali G: Who Iz I?, set for release in theaters on October 23rd through Amazon MGM Studios.
“I is back with me first movie in over 20 decades. It’s coming out in the cinemas on the 10th day of the 23rd month, innit?” Cohen says as Ali G in a video posted on Instagram, before revealing the title spray-painted on a wall behind him. “It’s only in movie theaters later this year, so check it out. Westside!”
The caption adds, “Dey haz finally made a documentary about me. And it ain’t like dat crap one about da penguins, dis one haz got at least twice as much animal sex. Ali G: Who Iz I? Cominatcha on 10.23 wotever dat means.”
Per Variety, Cohen secretly filmed the movie in the same manner as 2006’s Borat and 2020’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm to better catch people off guard. Some of the celebrities Cohen has interviewed as Ali G include Noam Chomsky, Newt Gingrich, Andy Rooney, Buzz Aldrin, and David Beckham.
The Ali G character first surfaced on Britain’s The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998, with Cohen receiving his own Da Ali G Show in 2000. In October 2024, Cohen appeared as both Ali G and Borat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
