Spiritbox have released a new song titled “Mourning” alongside a music video for the track. The stand-alone single is the band’s first new music since the release of their 2025 album, Tsunami Sea.
“Mourning” leans more toward rock than metal, using heft and compressed riffs to create washes of color rather than being driven by the riff. Light progressive flourishes and lingering elements of metalcore in the vein of Killswitch Engage are present, as vocalist Courtney LaPlante is given a wider floor for expressive clean vocals that fill the space comfortably.
The music video’s shift from black and white to vibrant color alongside the single’s cover art strongly imply a deliberate shift from Tsunami Sea, which prominently featured simplified black and white aesthetics for the album and tour.
Spiritbox are currently preparing for a tour of the UK, Europe, and Australia, along with a November 21st show with Metallica and Suicidal Tendencies for the anniversary of the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Get tickets here.
