Taylor Sheridan isn’t quite done with Paramount yet. According to Deadline, the Yellowstone creator has signed on to develop and produce a live-action Call of Duty movie alongside Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights).
Deadline described the video game adaptation as “designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what players love about the games, a series of first-person shooters centered on military campaigns, while expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”
Sheridan will co-write the film with Berg, who will also serve as director. The pair previously worked together on the Oscar-nominated 2016 film Hell or High Water and the neo-Western Wind River.
Both creatives are a good fit for the project. One of Sheridan’s many TV shows, Lioness, centers around a CIA team running undercover ops, while Berg helmed the 2013 war drama Lone Survivor.
Published by Activision, Call of Duty is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, boasting more than 500 million copies sold since debuting in 2003. The latest title, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is set for release on November 14th.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Sheridan has signed a massive deal with NBCUniversal that involves a film agreement spanning eight years, beginning in March 2026, and a television pact that kicks off in 2028 and runs for five years.
He has a long history with Paramount, featuring hit series like Yellowstone and its spin-offs 1883 and 1923, as well as Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman.
