Progressive rock band The Dear Hunter have announced the release of their new album, Sunya, and shared the lyric video for the first single, “The Glass Desert I – Giants.” Listen to it below.

Sunya will arrive on March 20th via Cave and Canary Goods. According to a press release, the album will feature “synth textures and tightly wound grooves.”

Sunya is our most ambitious effort to date,” said the band in a statement. “There are a lot of funky, jazz-fusion type influences that show up in these songs. But the record still feels like The Dear Hunter. Lyrically, we explore a lot of dystopian themes while adding a bunch of synth layers. It’s a bit of a contrast, but it makes for some good music.”

Arriving with the project’s release date is “The Glass Desert 1 – Giants,” and its accompanying lyric video. Composed of vibrant synths and tall lyrics about tackling larger-than-life problems, the track’s visual, billed as a “lyric video,” takes place in a fantasy world where a traveler zooms over glassy mountains.

Sunya will continue to expand on the sci-fi world that The Dear Hunter established with 2022’s Antimai — if you can’t tell by the ethereal lyric video for “The Glass Desert 1 – Giants.” The band previously teased concept art of Antimai in January before releasing an alternate reality game inspired by this new world on January 31st.
