The Mars Volta have released “Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas,” the newest single from their upcoming live album Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business.
The album, due out November 20th, includes a fan-voted selection of live performances of their 2025 studio LP Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos Del Vacio.

“Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas” features an amorphous structure, with lots of improvisation featuring outside lines to keep the feeling close to the edge of madness. The central core of vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and drummer Philo Tsoungui act as the pillar for the song while the remaining band members add scattering color all around them.
The exploratory polyharmonic improvisation skews away from the warmth and sensuousness of the original studio recording, instead producing something frightful and jarring in a uniquely Mars Volta way, like panthers in dense jungle.
