David Fincher has gotten the band back together: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross composed the score for the director’s upcoming Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood sequel, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth.
The film marks Reznor and Ross’ sixth consecutive feature collaboration with Fincher, following The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Mank, and The Killer. The partnership began with their Oscar-winning soundtrack for The Social Network in 2010, and their music has since become as much a part of Fincher’s signature as his affection for — and ability to — deeply unsettle people.
Reznor and Ross’ involvement in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth was finally confirmed via the film’s poster, seen below.
Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Fincher, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth finds Brad Pitt reprising his titular Academy Award-winning role — Tarantino clearly loves the character, having also revealed plans for a new Cliff Booth novel earlier this year.
This time, it’s 1977, eight years after the events of Tarantino’s film, and Booth has found work as a Hollywood fixer when he isn’t tending bar or working as a projectionist. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian round out the cast.
Reznor and Ross have kept plenty busy outside their Fincher partnership. Most recently, their TRON: Ares work landed on the 2026 Oscars shortlist for Best Original Score, while the Nine Inch Nails members also teamed with Boys Noize for the new Nine Inch Noize project earlier this year.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth opens globally in IMAX theaters for a two-week run beginning November 25th, before hitting Netflix on December 23rd. Revisit Cliff Booth’s first on-screen adventure now with Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood on 4K Ultra HD via Amazon.
